Sitecore Experience Editor Error “An error occurred. [Log message: The Sitecore.Client.ContentDatabase is null.]”

 

     Error Description:

• The error message content author encountered is: “An error occurred. [Log message: The Sitecore.Client.ContentDatabase is null.]”
• This issue prevents content author from using the Experience Editor effectively.

    Troubleshooting Steps:

            I have taken some steps to troubleshoot the issue:

• Evaluated presentation details and removed several rendering items that weren’t imported from the old system.
• However, the issue persisted.
• Also checked associated content and noticed that the workflow was broken (not imported from the old system).

    

However, the issue was still not resolved, then I checked all associated contents and what I noticed workflow was also broken(not imported from old system) Workflow 

Resolution:

    To resolve this issue:

• Continue removing broken items (both rendering items and workflow) from the affected content items.
• Once the root cause found, I applied these changes to the standard values that are being inherited.
• This approach helped me fixing the issue for a particular content item.
